I stayed home with the kids (yay! 4 day weekend) on Friday so I could spend Aurora's birthday with her. It was sunny and beautiful. We went to the park and played in the sun until Daddy's lunch hour, when we went and enjoyed lunch with him. Then off to the store so Gavin could pick out a present for her. He got her (finally, after being torn away from the cars and trucks) a baby choo-choo. A perfect gift from an older brother. Much needed naps (I got a present from her, both babies asleep at the same time!) and then a nice BBQ and baths and bed! Pretty normal day but tons of fun and I'm so grateful to be able to spend it with her and her brother.

And boy did she enjoy the corn. She's had it before but never done much with it. She chowED down and ate almost the whole cob all by herself!

Hot Wheels Hat

Gavin loves his hot wheels hat. (Thanks, Michael :) And when I say he loves his hot wheels hat, I mean he really loves his hot wheels hat. You may have noticed its presence in most of my outdoor photos the past few months. If it wasn't in the photo, it was probably because I made him take it off momentarily in an attempt to get a better picture of his face. But it always goes right back on. He won't wear any other hat. And he *has* to wear a hat every time we leave the house. Now, we do live in Alaska. But common. It's almost June for goodness sake! Oh well. It's a cute hat. And he wears it well. Even in the sunshine.

On Purpose

It used to only happen on accident, but every once in a while you can catch her standing up intentionally. As soon as she notices you noticing her though, she will drop back down to a squat, her favorite new pose. Pictures to follow. Promise.

Fixing her hair

Aurora's hair is getting long in the back (but only in the back... :0), so this morning I was trying to see if I could put it in little piggies. Gavin walked up and asked what I was doing. I said I was fixing her hair, to which he replied, "what happened to it?!?" because if I'm fixing it, well, you know, it must be broken.......

Sunshine! It's been beautiful out lately. Finally feels like spring. We have been enjoying it while we can. This weekend we gave the cars their first spring scrub. Well, Daddy and Gavin did anyway :)

Notice the boat is still in the shed. That means it's not *officially* spring yet... (I'm going to refrain from making jokes about the snowblower, also pictured)

Gavin quietly observed her wearing his glasses, then told me and Dean that we had to go to the store and get her some "small" glasses. He's pretty smart, that one :)

Happy Birthday to Me

My birthday was on Tuesday. Gavin and Grandma made me a carrot cake. Yumm! Then yesterday, Grandma & Pa watched the babes while Daddy and I had a date (!) and today, we had fresh king salmon, asparagus, cukes and rice for dinner and fresh strawberries and fallen chocolate cake for dessert on Grandma and Pa's new table! A nice celebratory week just for me :)
