Gavin is growing into such a wonderful older brother. The other day he *really* wanted to hold her. But he was eating breakfast and was all sticky with "OPA-meel" and mean mommy that I am, I wouldn't let him until he finished breakfast and washed up. By then, my mommy mind had forgotten all about it until he pronounced with great gusto

I'm Tangled
Winter is on it's way! It's a beautiful, beautiful day here, but as you may know, beauty usually comes at a price. We paid for today's wonderful sunshine at a particularly steep cost, with the first frost of the season. Running out the door this morning, I was delighted to grab a scarf. I love scarves. What's not to love? They're soft, warm, fuzzy, warm, colorful, warm, comforting, and.......well, did I mention, warm? As I was strapping Gavin in the car he grabs the end of my scarf.
"Look Mommy!"
"Yes, that's my scarf. It's cold out so I'm wearing a scarf."
"Look Mommy!"
"Do you want a scarf? You can have a scarf. I'll find you yours if you want"
"Look Mommy!"
I can only guess from his incessant obsession with my fringe that Gavin seems to have inherited my love of scarves. So I went back inside and dug out his scarf. I have to admit, I love his scarf too. Its so adorable to see him all wrapped up in brown and green and red strips, complete with a little football applique on the end. :) So I tuck it around his neck and off we go to Grandma's. As we're driving along Gavin admires his warm fuzzy scarf, and announces to me as he pulls on both ends at the same time,
"I'm TANGLED Mommy!"

Tamato Head
Our friend gave Gavin a Costco sized Mr. Potato Head toy recently. Gavin loves it, even if he can't seem to remember that it's *potato* head and not tomato head.

I Want Socket
Yesterday, on the way home from the store, it was announced (quite willfully)
"I want socket!"
Whhhhaaaatttt?
"SOCKET!"
Did he say, socket?
"Socket, Mooooommmmmy!!!!! Socket! I waaaaaant socket!"
Now, you have to understand. This child's father is a car mechanic. He has been chewing on tire gauges since he was his sister's age. He knows what a screwdriver is. And a wrench. Nails, screws, nuts, and yes, probably even sockets. But I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why he suddenly wanted a socket.
Until I realized just what "socket" really is...

She Laughed...
Tonight, my heart got up and walked away from me. If I had any lingering doubts that my heart belonged to me still and was not instead the sole possession of my children, they were abolished when I made her laugh for the first time ever. I feel as if my heart is going to burst!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Remember when. Back when you were growing up and the weekend rolled around and you would get to have.............mac 'n cheese for breakfast?!? And not just any mac 'n cheese, but cold, left-over mac 'n cheese?
(Of course) first he asked for ice cream :)
So then before I even got half way to the kitchen he had the fridge open and tupperware out and by the time I caught up to him he had found the m&c and had already closed the fridge and when I said "For breakfast, really?" he started jumping up and down and shaking. What are you gonna do? It *is* Saturday after all. And early to boot. You've heard the phrase, "Pick your battles"?
Honestly, mac 'n cheese for breakfast at 8 am on Saturday just doesn't rank. So I diligently heated some up for him and sat him down at his little table. He ate half of it before I heard him saying "Nooooooo. COLD. I wannit cooooold." So I gave the rest of it to him straight out of the fridge.
As for me? I had some nice, warm, fluffy pancakes :) And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee...

Float Plane Goodness
My baby boy is obsessed with Float Planes. Luckily for him, his Grandma has a friend who owns one. And he was gracious enough to let us come check it out. From the moment we stepped into view, couldn't keep his eyes off of it.
First, Cousin climbed in.
Then George carefully lifted him up into the pilots seat.If that isn't pure delight on his face, I don't know what is :)
Although I'm pretty sure he was wondering what the heck we we waiting for and why he wasn't "Take in off"But seriously, what else could a little boy ask for.

A Pear of Thomas
Potty training is fun. :) Really. Cleaning poo out of little undies is totally worth it when you get to have conversations like this:
"I want to POOOOOOOOP"
"Ok, let's GO!......Ooops. You already started. That's ok, it happens. Next time tell me *before* you start"
"I want Thomas"
"I'll get you a clean pair of Thomas"
"I want THOOOOOMAS"
"Don't worry, I'll get you a new pair"
"I wanta pear of Thomas. I wanta apple of thomas. A banana..."
ETA: Yes, he really did say that ;)

You know you're a mom when
You can put both your socks on with one hand while sitting in the car holding a nursing baby in the other hand and having a conversation with the two year old in the back seat to keep him from bursting into tears because you walked into the house to get the baby while he was strapped into the car seat, but you can't seem to find two matching itty bitty pink socks to save your life. I sent Rora to mom's today with one white sock and one striped sock. I know, I'm a terrible mom :D
